Tall Wheatgrass

Thinopyrum ponticum
Tall Wheatgrass (Thinopyrum ponticum) is a perennial grass native to Eurasia and has been successfully introduced to North America (found naturalized across states like Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska) as a non-invasive plant that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–8. Reaching a mature height of 3–6 feet with an upright bunching growth habit, it features coarse, blue-green leaves and produces long, narrow seed spikes. It thrives in saline and alkaline soils in semi-arid regions and is ideal for saline soil reclamation, pasture grazing, and wildlife winter cover.
