Sweet Flag

Acorus calamus
Sweet Flag (Acorus americanus) is a perennial forb native to northern and eastern US states (such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Maine) and has also been successfully introduced to other regions of North America as a non-invasive plant that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–9. Reaching a mature height of 2–3 feet with an upright spreading growth habit, it features bright green, sword-shaped leaves and produces a yellowish-green, horn-like spadix. It thrives in wet soils, marshes, and shallow water margins and is ideal for wetland restoration, constructed stormwater wetlands, and shoreline erosion control.
