Showy Partridge Pea

Showy Partridge Pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) is an annual forb native to Central and Eastern US states (such as Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Florida) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10 as a self-seeding annual. Reaching a mature height of 1–3 feet with an upright, multi-branched growth habit, it features delicate, fern-like, pinnately compound green leaves and produces bright yellow pea-like flowers with red stamens. It thrives in dry to moist sandy or loamy soils in full sun and is ideal for soil nitrogen fixation, quail and gamebird habitat, and roadside vegetation cover.
