Okra

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) is an annual forb native to southern US states (such as Texas, Georgia, and Florida) and has also been successfully introduced across North America as a non-invasive plant that can thrive in USDA Zones 2–11 as a warm-season annual. Reaching a mature height of 3–6 feet with an upright branching growth habit, it features broad, palmate, deeply lobed green leaves and produces large, cream to pale-yellow flowers with a prominent purple center, followed by fibrous seed pods. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soils in full sun and is ideal for commercial warm-season crop production, agricultural crop rotation, and utility farm plantings.
