Maryland Senna

Maryland Senna (Senna marilandica) is a perennial forb native to Eastern and Central US states (such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee) that can thrive in USDA Zones 4–9. Reaching a mature height of 3–6 feet with a bushy, shrub-like growth habit, it features compound green leaves with oval leaflets and produces dense clusters of bright yellow flowers followed by dark seed pods. It thrives in moist prairies, riverbanks, and floodplain meadows and is ideal for riparian buffer restoration, nitrogen fixation, and wildlife cover creation.
