Keystone Peas

Keystone Field Peas (Pisum sativum) is an annual forb native to central US states (such as North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho) and has also been successfully introduced across North America as a non-invasive crop that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10 as a cool-season annual. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with a vining, climbing growth habit, it features pinnate green leaves with climbing tendrils and produces white pea-like flowers followed by seed pods. It thrives in cool, well-drained loamy soils and is ideal for agricultural cover cropping, green manure soil nitrogen enrichment, and livestock forage mixes.
