Common Milkweed

Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is a perennial forb native to eastern and central US states (such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Tennessee) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–9. Reaching a mature height of 3–5 feet with an aggressively spreading rhizomatous growth habit, it features broad, thick, oval-shaped green leaves and produces fragrant, spherical clusters of dusty pink to purplish flowers. It thrives in dry to moist fields, utility corridors, and open woods and is ideal for large-scale pollinator habitat and monarch butterfly caterpillar forage.
