Cardinal Flower

Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) is a perennial forb native to Eastern and Central US states (such as Indiana, Kentucky, Florida, and Missouri) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–9. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with an upright unbranched growth habit, it features dark green to bronzy lance-shaped leaves and produces intense, fiery red tubular flowers along terminal spikes. It thrives in rich, wet soils along streams, ponds, and damp woods and is ideal for riparian buffer restoration, wetland creation, and hummingbird habitat.
