Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is a perennial forb native to eastern and southern US states (such as North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–9. Reaching a mature height of 1–2 feet with a bushy, mounding growth habit, it features narrow, hairy, lance-shaped green leaves and produces brilliant orange to yellow flat-topped flower clusters. It thrives in dry, rocky, or sandy well-drained soils and is ideal for highway pollinator corridors, commercial landscape conservation plantings, and native habitat restoration.
